Massey Harris Timeline

 

1910                No. 1 Pull type Reaper Thresher sold in Australia

1927                Reaper Thresher gained acceptance in Alberta and Saskatchewan

1936                Tom Carroll and James Duncan realized need for Self Propelled combines

                       to compliment the rest of the Massey Harris line in Argentina

1937                No. 20 SP tested in Argentina (built without any constraint on cost or weight)

1940                Lighter lower cost No. 21 tested

1941                First No. 21 produced just as the war caused a freeze on all design work on farm machinery

1943                21A first produced

1943                21 and 21A produced with special permission of the War Department.  Five hundred were manufactured and could only be purchased if the buyer promised to use the machine on the Harvest Brigade starting in Texas and ending in North Dakota or Canada.  Each combine was to harvest 2000 acres of wheat.

1949                Model 26 first produced;  last year of production for the 21A

1950                Model 27 with 16-foot cut was introduced

1952               Model 60 self propelled first sold

1953                70, 80, and 90 offered

1957                72, 82, sold

1960                Super 92

1963                300 by Massey Ferguson

1964                410 and 510 by Massey Ferguson

1973                750 by Massey Ferguson
